Kate Lycett "Mr Fox"
Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, pencils, watercolour, gold leaf and gold thread.
This is a stylised, almost birds-eye view of the climb up Shackleton Hill from Hardcastle Craggs. Early in the morning I have seen deer here - even a young stag! Mr Fox is Hatties favourite toy and we felt he needed an adventure.
Kate Lycett "Lumb Bank"
Original media: Inks, gouache, acrylics, pencils, watercolour, gold leaf and gold thread.
Lumb Bank was the home of Ted Hughes. It sits below Slack and Heptonstall, on a steep sided hill that drops down to Colden water. The white arch of the house is often striking - catching the sun, while the deep valley below remains shaded and dark. Elmet is from "The Remains of Elmet" (1979), a volume of poems evoked by the landscape (Elmet was an ancient name for the West Riding).
Painted in 2018 for “Craggs & Fells” - a solo exhibition at Heart Gallery, Hebden Bridge.
